Elly Henes, a senior at North Carolina State, ran a lifetime-best 15:18.75 to triumph in the women's invitational 5,000 meters at the Fresno State West Coast Relays at Veterans Memorial Stadium at Buchanan High in Clovis, Calif. Henes elevated to the No. 2 competitor in Atlantic Coast Conference history and the No. 10 all-time collegiate outdoor performer, improving on her previous-best 15:27.46 from Massachusetts in September. Henes ascended to No. 23 in the world this year, including 11th among Americans.
